Home: Little Blue House
Portfolio Introduction
Caring for my mother in the last years, months and days of her life brought up many memories, some decidedly long buried, of "home" for me. We moved every two to three years when I was growing up-each time a new house, new environment, a new chance. In many ways though, it felt like some things never changed, that we were like crabs carrying the same old house on our backs and setting up camp whereever we were told to. We schlepped the same family structure, the same dynamics and the same interpersonal issues from place to place.
Little Blue House represents those homes for me and the memories I have. Memory can be so curious - it can be detailed or just a flash of feelings, fleeting thoughts or even smells. Detailed or not, pleasant or not, they hold a power and sway over us throughout our lives.
